Who Invented DNA Fingerprinting
Sir Alec Jeffreys is known for being the scientist who invented DNA fingerprinting. His discovery has helped people in the forensic field take a huge stride from where they used to be. DNA fingerprinting has helped solve thousands of crimes, answered questions about paternity, and so much more. Keep in mind though, that inventions and discoveries can not be done without "standing on the shoulders of giants". Sir Alec Jeffreys would not have been able to figure out the dna fingerprinting process without the help of DNA and genetics pioneers like Roseland Franklin, Mendel, or Frederick Sanger. There are a great deal of others who helped shape dna fingerprinting history. You can find out more about who these great pioneers were by referring to the menu on the left.
